Gifford Pinchot State Park Campground is located in Lewisberry, PA. We visited for the first time this summer and loved it to much we went back again! The rates are very low (around $30/night) because its a state park campground. There are no full hook up sites, but some sites do have electricity. Unfortunately, none of the waterfront sites have electricity. We wanted to stay right on the water so we choose site 114 right next to the swimming beach. It was a great spot!
The appeal of this campground is obviously the lake! There is only one swimming beach in the campground, and in other spots the seawood and mud can make it difficult to access the water. For this reason I would suggest a spot near the swimming beach. From the beach you can swim, raft, or visit the small playground located right on the beach.
Other great activities include stand up paddleboarding and kayaking. We have our own, but there are rentals available in the main part of the park. Its easy to put your gear in from the sides of the beach area, and if you have a waterfront site it may be possible to launch from there. We had a great spot between our site and the site next to us to launch.
The sunsets at the lake can’t be beat!
The drawbacks of this campground is it is meant for smaller rigs. The sites are on the small side and the roads can be narrow. It definitely has a bare bones camping feel, with less scheduled amenities and few hookup options. For the price though I feel this one can’t be beat!
